In addition to a variety of small, medium, and large in-class creative activities for which you will receive credit, you will need to do the following:

DAY ONE:

  • Be sure you have a Google Drive account and know how to properly share documents with me (drscottwatson@gmail.com)..
  • Register for a Noteflight.com account if you don't already have one.
  • READ UT2UMC, chaps. 3 (Allow Students to Share Themselves) and 4 (Offer Compelling Examples to Imitate and Inspire).
  • COMPLETE a 10 question, "take-home" quiz on these two chapters; due tomorrow.
  • REFLECT on the "Reflection Activity" questions at the end of each of these chapters as you read. We will discuss some of these in class tomorrow.
  • PREPARE/BRING audio (of a favorite artist, band, composer, genre of music, or any other theme you devise) you'll need tomorrow for your "Favorite Things" podcast. This could be CDs, MP3 files on a USB flash drive, or uploaded to your Google Drive, or something else.

DAY TWO:

  • READ UT2UMC, chaps. 5 (Employ Parameters and Limitations That Remove Distractions and Help Students Focus), 6 (Remove Parameters and Limitations That Stifle Creativity and Lead to Contrived Expression), and 7 (Facilitate Improvisation).
  • COMPLETE a 10 question, "take-home" quiz on these three chapters; due tomorrow.
  • REFLECT on the "Reflection Activity" questions at the end of each of these chapters as you read. We will discuss some of these in class tomorrow.

DAY THREE:

  • READ UT2UMC, chap. 8 (Engage in Coaching Interaction).
  • COMPLETE a 10 question, "take-home" quiz on this chapter; due tomorrow.

THEN, use THIS FORM to review one special app you find online, already use, or choose from my links listing. Prepare a brief (5 minute) demonstration of the application's main features to "show it off" to the class as well.

IF TIME: Break into pairs to peruse lessons/activities from one of the curricular resources shared by your instructor. Choose ONE example lesson from a chosen resource, and follow this plan to profile and report out to the class about your example.
